The Mule Days Celebration
The Mule Days Celebration, Memorial Day week in Bishop, California annually welcomes more than 700 mules and as many as 30,000 fans to Bishop, in California's ruggest Eastern Sierra's. Mule Days was founded in 1969, and today has become an event that rodeo announcer Bob Tallman calls "the National Finals" of the mule industry. If you log on to www.muledays.org, you'll have a chance to read the history of this unique weeklong event, which gives mules, mule trainers and mule fans a chance to watch their favorite animals at work in more than 180 different events, sometimes demonstrating the versatility of the mules, sometimes creating something that looks alot like an old style wild west show. Mule Days also features a concert every year on Thursday night, which has welcomed great entertainers like Neal McCoy, Chris LeDoux and Chris Cagle, and the largest non motorized parade in the world every year on Saturday morning.
