A look ahead to Steve's visit to the Auburn
Wild West Stampede...
California's a hotbed for rodeos this
week. With the Tour Stop in Clovis, and
PRCA events in Lakeside, Springville,
and Auburn all on the schedule.
I'll be announcing Auburn's rodeo for
the first time, featuring the livestock
of the Flying U Rodeo Company and a few
new wrinkles to the more than 70 year
old Northern California tradition.
Committee member Bob Fox says the
addition of Chuck Wagon racing to the
two day rodeo will add a whole new twist
to things in Auburn. Fox says rodeo week
includes a 4-D barrel race Thursday
night, and a team roping jackpot all day
Friday. Those events lead into
performances at 3 PM Saturday and
Sunday.
"We've got mutton busting prior to the
rodeo each day. We've got a great
tradition Saturday afternoon at 2 PM,
our Dick Foster Special Kids Rodeo in
honor of a real community leader who
passed away a few years ago will bring
emotionally and physically handicapped
kids together with our contestants. It's
quite an event." Auburn's Sunday
afternoon performance is part of the
Tough Enough to Wear Pink program.
