"A look at the Walla Walla Community College
Rodeo..."
The Walla Walla Community College Spring Rodeo
Classic returns to the indoor arena at the
fairgrounds in Walla Walla, WA this weekend.
Walla Walla produces a unique college rodeo. It
takes place in partnership with various
community organizations, including the Exchange
Club, and the money raised by the rodeo is split
between the college rodeo program and area
agencies that work to prevent child abuse.
We all know that alot of college rodeos in the
world don't attract very big crowds, this one is
the exception. It usually comes close to selling
out all four performances, and has raised almost
$300,000 for child abuse prevention programs
over the last quarter of a century.
The rodeo gets underway Friday night with a
single performance, followed by a busy day on
Saturday, including a breakfast and kids rodeo
Saturday morning, and then performances Saturday
afternoon and Saturday night. The championship
short round is Sunday afternoon.
We'll have updates throughout the weekend on
Steve's Blog.
