From the PRCA -
Pocatello pieces come together with conclusion
of last three circuit finals
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Qualification for the
2007 Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo came to
a close last weekend with the conclusion of the
last three circuit finals rodeos – the Dodge
First Frontier Circuit Finals Rodeo (Harrisburg,
Pa., Jan. 11-13), the Dodge Montana Circuit
Finals Rodeo (Great Falls, Jan. 12-14) and the
Dodge California Circuit Finals Rodeo (Norco,
Jan. 12-14).
Average champions from those rodeos will join
each event’s year-end winners at the DNCFR,
March 14-17 in Pocatello’s Holt Arena.
In Great Falls, timed-event cowboy Curt La Duke
claimed the rodeo’s all-around and steer
wrestling title and rallied to claim the
circuit’s year-end all-around crown. La Duke of
Bozeman, Mont., downed three steers in 14.0
seconds to clinch a berth to the DNCFR and also
finished fourth in tie-down roping and bagged a
rodeo-best $7,063. That enabled him to rally
from third to first in the final year-end
all-around standings.
Tie-down roper Ryan Siemsen of Huntley defended
his circuit finals rodeo title by roping three
calves in 30.3 seconds.
Other Montana Circuit Finals Rodeo average
champions were bareback rider Dale Stoller of
Great Falls, 238 points on three head; saddle
bronc rider Shane Moran of Roundup, 241 points
on three head; bull rider Steven Lambert of
Bozeman, 225 points on three head; team ropers
J.P. Holland of Billings/Dustin Ostrum of
Joliet, 21.7 seconds on three head; and barrel
racer Shelly Murphy of Helena, 40.10 seconds on
three runs.
In Norco, team ropers Daniel Green of Oakdale,
Calif., and partner Todd Hampton of Chowchilla,
Calif., claimed victory for the second year in a
row after recording a time of 18.4 seconds on
three head. They shared the triumph with Waylon
McCurley of Stockton, Calif., and Travis Woodard
of Malad, Idaho.
Also, steer wrestler Trav Cadwell of Oakdale,
Calif., a two-time year-end champion, snagged
the circuit finals average title after turfing
three steers in 13.2 seconds.
Other California Circuit Finals Rodeo average
champions were bareback rider Ben Londo of
Milton Freewater, Ore., 234 points on three
head; saddle bronc rider Scott Miller of Hemet,
Calif., 237 points on three head; bull rider
Jake Moore of Kneeland, Calif., 85 points on
one; tie-down roper Clint Cooper of San Luis
Obispo, Calif., 30.9 seconds on three head; and
Kathy Bankston of Gavilan Hills, Calif., 51.19
seconds on three runs. |
