Beaver's Omaha performance might get
him to the NFR in two events.
Joe Beaver from Texas could be on
his way to the Wrangler National
Finals Rodeo in two events after his
performance at the Summer Tour
Finale in Omaha, Nebraska over the
weekend.
Beaver moved from 16th to sixth in
the PRCA's heading standings when he
teamed with Jhett Johnson to win the
team roping title in Omaha and more
than $13,000 a piece. Beaver is
third in the all-around, he's 8th in
the tie down roping with more than
$66,000 and 6th in the team roping
with earnings of more than $56,000.
Beaver, the PRCA's all-time career
money leader, wasn't the only
contestant in Omaha to significantly
improve his NFR chances at the
finale.
Steer Wrestler Jason Lahr from
Kansas won more than $11,000 in
Omaha and moved from 16th to 7th in
the world standings. Tie down roper
Scott Kormos from Texas jumped from
17th to ninth, bronc rider Bobby
Griswold from Oklahoma moved from
16th to 13th in Omaha.
Barrel Racer Shelly Anzick from
Montana, who said in an interview
recently that her horse Buster
"Really wants to make it to the NFR"
took a huge step in that direction
in Omaha. She won her event at the
rodeo and moved up to 5th in the
WPRA with earnings of more than
$64,000 for the year.
