Albuquerque hosts final rodeo of Wrangler Pro Rodeo Summer Tour...

The New Mexico State Fair in Albuquerque played host to the 12th of 12 rodeos on the Wrangler Pro Rodeo Summer Tour

Albuequerque was a make or break rodeo for several contestants hoping to earn a trip to the Summer Tour Finale in Omaha this weekend.

Barreback riders Jess Davis and Scotty Drennan, steer wrestler Chad Hagen, team ropers Logan Olsen and Cody Hintz, tie down ropers Randall Carlisle and Ryan Jarrett, barrel racer Kelly Maben and bull rider Shawn Procter all secured spots in the Summer Tour Finale with their performances in Albuquerque.

Royce Ford from Colorado won both the Tour Round and the average in the bareback riding in Albuquerque. Davis, from Utah, earned 17 Tour Points to move up to 8th in the standings. He placed in two out of the three rounds including splitting first in the second go round of his event. Drennan, from Texas, did not place either either long round but did earn a chance to come back in the short round, turning in a second place finish of 85 points and moving up to 12th in the Tour Standings.

In the steer wrestling Chad Hagen from Louisiana won the Tour Round with a 3.5 and won the average with a total time of 11.2. He will head into Omaha 8th in the steer wrestling standings.

Logan Olson and Cody Hintz from South Dakota and Nevada won the Tour Round in the team roping with a 5.7 and won the average with a 15.6 on three head to earn themselves a spot in the rodeo in Omaha. Olson and Hintz won more than $6,110.

Rod Hay from Canada has been on a Tour Rodeo Roll...He split first in the average in Puyallup, the split first in Pendleton, before he final won one outright, riding three horses for a total of 246 points in Albuquerque. Hay will head to Omaha second in the Tour Standings in the bronc riding.

Albuquerque could have been the ticket for veteran tie down roper Ricky Canton to Omaha. Canton won the Tour Round with an 8.4 and won the average, but finished two Tour Points shy of a trip to the Tour Finale. He did win more than $3,600. The ropers who did get into Omaha were 2005 All-Around champion Ryan Jarrett from Georgia who will head to Omaha tied for 11th in the Tour with three time all-around champ Trevor Brazile. Randall Carlisle from Texas moved up to 8th in the Tour Standings with the 11.5 points he collected in Albuquerque.

Barrel racer Terra Bynum from Lubbock, Texas suffered the same fate the befell Canton. She won the first round and the Tour Round en route to the average win in the barrel race, but didn't finish the Summer Tour with enough points to go to Omaha. Maben finished second in the average, placing in all three rounds in Albuquerque and earning 26 points to move up to 11th in the Tour Standings and punch her ticket to Omaha.

Proctor, from Tooelle, Utah, was the only man to make a qualified ride in the Tour Round in Albuquerque. He earned more than $8,100 and moved up to fifth in the Tour Standings. Proctor won the Tour Round with an 80 point ride on Cervi's Dirty Blanket bull.
