I've interviewed Cody Wright a couple of times
over the last couple of years...
He's quiet, soft spoken, and is a great saddle
bronc rider.
The 29 year old Wright from Milford, Utah won
the Tour Round and the average at the Caldwell
Night Rodeo, spurring his way to an 86 point
ride on Saturday night to win the Tour Round and
the average in Caldwell. Wright earned more than
$7,000 in Caldwell, and has won $76,615 and is
fourth in the PRCA's World Standings...
The Wrangler Pro Rodeo Summer Tour is winding
down, with three stops left prior to the Tour
Finale in Omaha in a little more than a month
from now.
Caldwell's biggest winner was reigning world
bareback riding champion Will Lowe from Texas,
who left town with $8,961. Lowe won the average
and split first in the Tour Round with Kelly
Timberman from Wyoming.
All the bull riders in the Tour Round in
Caldwell got bucked off...leaving the title in
the hands of D.J. Domangue and Logan Knibbe from
Texas. They each rode for 91 points in the long
round and split first in the average, taking
home $8,375 each.
Ellensburg, Puyallup, and Pendleton are the next
three stops on the Summer Tour before the Tour
heads to Albuquerque, New Mexico and then on to
Omaha.

Congratulations to the people who produce the
annual Gooding County Fair and Rodeo in Gooding,
Idaho.
The rodeo, held last Thursday thru Saturday, was
one of the best I've had the pleasure of being
involved with. The livestock from the Burns
Rodeo Company of Wyoming and the Korkow Rodeo
Company of South Dakota was exceptional, and the
record setting crowd was awesome. We may have
started a new tradition of fans with signs
during the three day rodeo.
Among the highlights, 20 year old Sonny Murphy
from Utah ran his earnings to $99,006 for the
year when he won the bull riding with a 92 point
score. Murphy is well on his way to his first
Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, and is second in
the PRCA's World Standings.
Cowboys from Utah also won the bareback riding
and the bull dogging. Bud Munns won the bareback
riding with an 87 point score, finishing ahead
of Lowe who was second with an 84. Tommy Cook
from Heber City lit up the crowd with a Saturday
night time of 3.5. Jake Hayworth from Idaho won
the bronc riding with an 87.
Goodings other winners...
Tie Down Roping - Jared Arave, Idaho - 8.4
Team Roping - Wade and Ben Tibbetts split first
with Brian Winn and Coby Drake, 5.4
Barrel Racing, Terry Wood Gates, Utah - 17.35
*****
Trevor Brazile and Rich Skelton won more than
$4,600 when the won the team roping at the
Clackamas County Fair in Canby, Oregon.
Brazile's won twice as much money as his closest
competitor in the all-around race.
Two Columbia River Circuit event leaders were
winners in Canby, Jason Mattox from Roseburg won
$4,900 in the bull riding and is close to
$15,000 for the year. Barb West from Oak Harbor
is back in the barrel racing lead. She won more
than $2,500 in Canby.
Canby's champions...
Bareback Riding - Tom McFarland, Arizona
Tie Down Roping - Joe Parsons, Arizona
Steer Wrestling - Rod Lyman, Montana

Blair Burk turned in the fastest time of a fast
tie down roping at the Moses Lake Round-Up in
Moses Lake, Washington. Burk won $2,200 for his
time of 6.9. The 11 time National Finalist is
fifth in the PRCA's World Standings and has won
more than $63,000.
A couple of young guns split the bareback riding
in Canby, Steven Dent from Illinois shared the
win with Zac Compton from Pendleton. Compton was
the National High School Rodeo Association's
Reserve champion two years ago. Dent is on his
way to winning the overall and bareback riding
Resistol Rookie of the Year award.
Bull rider Zeb Lanham from Idaho has won almost
$64,000 this year. He won first in Moses Lake
and is eighth in the world. Brazile and Skelton
duplicated their Canby win when they won first
in Moses Lake.
Moses Lake's other winners...

The PRCA's Summer Tour is taking this week off,
but there are plenty of rodeos across the
country. 29 PRCA sanctioned events are on the
schedule this weekend.
Those rodeos go from San Juan Capistrano, CA to
Lethbridge, AB and Kamloops, BC, Canada.
There are four big ones in the Columbia River
Circuit. The new rodeo in Lynden, Washington is
adding $4,000 this year. Rodeos in Kennewick and
Bremerton Wednesday through Saturday both are
adding $6,000. I'll be announcing the North
Idaho Fair in Coeur D' Alene Friday through
Sunday.

Among the hot hands last week...
Will Lowe - The Reigning World Bareback Riding
Champion won Caldwell, placed second in Canby
and Gooding, won $12,000+ and jumped back into
the lead in the world standings with $96,000 +
for the year...
Brazile - First in the team roping in Canby and
Moses Lake, the PRCA's all-around leader has won
$210,000 for the year. He's first in the steer

how many world titles will he win?
